Holiday Avocado Toast
My kids love avocado toast for breakfast, or as my husband calls it, "guacamole toast." It's such an easy meal to play around with because the combinations are endless. I wanted to create a seasonal avocado toast that was savory with a touch of sweetness. Since pomegranates are in season, their sweetness adds contrast against the savory ingredients in this recipe. Umami is the savoriness that we taste in food. Adding dukkah, an Egyptian spice made with nuts, herbs, and spices, along with an array of roasted and salted nuts, that natural umami flavor really comes out. I love playing around with different ingredients to put on my avocado toast and can't wait to see what I come up with next. This toast is perfect for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Yum!
